My name is Desiree' Slaughter, but I pretty much go by Desi (most of the time). I'm a 90's kid from Detroit, MI, who spent most of my childhood caring for my siblings. I love creating, tech, solving problems, helping people, and have an unnatural addiction to organization. I'm ambitious, driven, social and a complete ball of energy who even sings all the time (even though I know I can't).
A Little Backgound
From my younger years up until now, I have always had a wide range of interests that typically revolve around nerding out on whatever I was passionate about and creating to my heart’s desire. I've always had my nose in the books...academic, reading, magazines, my journals, Harry Potter, you name it! I'm a born techie that shamelessly loves Apple products, and I can spend hours online for everything from work to browsing.
As a creative, I began as a self-taught artist drawing my way through art school before finally ending up at University Preparatory Academy High School where I was introduced to independent learning, coding, and design. I started my creative journey with nothing but a basic understanding of Photoshop and an open mind to learning new things. After switching from Applied Engineering to Media Arts & Technology as my major at Michigan State University, I dedicated my career and college experiences to learning everything I could about branding, web design, content marketing, and digital systems.
A strong believer in owning your identity and the benefits of technology, I use my online presence to educate and inspire those within my reach by sharing my personal and professional experiences. Every day, I wake up with the drive to learn, grow as a person, build wealth, make a positive impact on the world and inspire others in business and life.
Where I Am Now
After moving back to Michigan in 2020 from a 3-year stint in Houston, TX, I am now living and working in Lansing, MI with my dog Bandit while I work on figuring out this thing called LIFE (secretly dying to get back to Detroit).
As a creative professional, certified techie, and digital creator, my career has been dedicated to cultivating a unique skill set in Branding, Web Design, Content Marketing, and Tech. By day, I mostly spend my time creating. My Capricorn nature makes me a worker bee, so I can easily get lost in my work.
These days, when I'm not working or on the computer, I might be found at home hanging with my rescue dog, Bandit, but I also enjoy getting out for social events, cooking, traveling, and creating new memories with friends and family.
